Pilot Pre-submission Form

This is the pre-submission form for the Indigenous Research Ethics Application Pilot.

You will find more information about the Pilot here, including background on creation of the Indigenous Ethics Application, the principles (guiding values) drafted as part of the pilot design process, and definitions used in the Application.

In order to ensure that your application is suitable for the pilot and ready for review, we request that you complete the pre-submission form below. If you determine that your research is not suitable, please log into https://www.rise.ubc.ca/ and complete your behavioural ethics application there. If you need assistance, Maria Valente (BREB Manager) can be contacted by email: maria.valente@ubc.ca. Submitting the form below does not oblige you to participate in this pilot and at any point, you may choose to discontinue involvement in the Pilot.

If you need assistance with your RISe application, please contact maria.valente@ubc.ca.

Q4 - Have you determined whether research approval from an ICCO will be needed? *
Q5 - Is your research health related AND taking place in or with a B.C. First Nation? *
This question is intended to identify health-related research that may need to be reviewed with the First Nations Health Authority. For the pilot project, we will require a discussion with FNHA before proceeding.

Your application may need to be reviewed with the First Nations Health Authority.

Q6 - Will your ethics application require review by more than one Research Ethics Board (UBC-BREB plus another academic or health authority REB) in BC? *
If another BC REB is involved, we will need to discuss with them if they agree to take part in the pilot. If an REB outside BC needs to be involved, we may not be able to include your project in the pilot.
