  • Please complete the checklist and attach to Application box 9.8A.
  • Studies involving a ML/AI component should consult with the Health Authority Privacy office (eg VCH privacy).

Peer - Scientific Review Template 

Clinical research posing more than minimal risk must have undergone some prior peer review, for example, review by a funding sponsor, or by some other peer review mechanism. UBC's REBs must be satisfied about both the value and the scientific validity of the study. 

  • Attach grant reviews or if none available, then please have an expert in the field that is independent from the study team complete the  Scientific / Peer Review Form 

Exception- For-profit funded studies.

If you will be including in your biobank individuals whose capacity to consent may be in question (eg, minors or adults with diminished capacity) or individuals from communities that may have additional considerations (eg, an Indigenous community), please contact your REB office to discuss prior to submission. 

For registries- please remove references to "biospecimens", "samples" and "biobank".  A Registry template is currently being drafted
